Hair Stylist Needed
Posted by kardi08 (94 days ago)
I have medium length hair and have spent a long time to be able to reach this length (my hair growth is very slow).
But the problem is that they do not look stylish at all. I have got them straightened and permed but dont want to do that anymore. Also i dont want to cut them too much. I just want someone to advice me on what style would suit me and then get a hair cut that suits me.
Also i do not want to spend an obscene amount of money on it (am willing to spend 500-800 HKD).
Can anyone help? Thanx

Kardi,I understand your frustration. There are so many stylists out there that are willing to just sell you something without considering if it suits you or fits in with your lifestyle. I am a stylist of almost twenty years and have been in Hong Kong for a short time and am quite amazed at some of the work I have seen. There are very good stylists here and also quite the contrary.Keep the faith, and a good consultation with a reputable salon should be free of charge and help you find some direction. thanks Jon

Kardi, you have many choices within your price range so you should really not have too much trouble. If you can give me some more information about what kind of stylist you would like, ie. background, origin, male, female etc I will give you a few direct recamendations.

Thanx Jon and D Man.
D Man i do not have any preference for all the options you mentioned for a stylish, having said that i have had so many bad experiences with local stylists in the past 7 years that i am tempted to say that i would prefer not to work with a local stylist, but i am flexible on that if i am convinced he/she is very good. My biggest requirement is that the person should know what they are doing, discuss with me options and then cut my hair, i would prefer a person who isnt too pushy and is able to spend some time with me to help me decide what i want rather than just go ahead and do their thing. I am an Indian and so of course a person who speaks english will be very important. Thanx in advance

Hi Kardi, ok i can give you a couple of options and I would suggest for you to go and have a consultation with them before making any decisions to see who you are most comfortable with. Also to let you know I am from The Hairdressers and will recomend a couple from our own salon but others as well.
Rennie (at TH2 on Hollywood Rd SOHO) South African, hair and makeup, very experienced and like to spend time with clients.
Renae (at The Hairdressers) Australia, very detailed and patient, hair and make up, precise and carefull
Emanuel (Emanuel F salon), French, very consistant and contemporary, takes his time, has his own 'french' style, nice guy.
Lorraine (at O2), British, very nice lady. not seen her work but heard good things. I have met her and she is very nice and very experienced.
Maggie (TH2), local gal but trained in Australia. very nice gal, patient, friendly and carefull, does not take any risks.
I could list more but i think it would start to get too confusing. As i said go for a consultation and see who you feel most comfortable with. Let me know how you get on.

Kardi,it seems you have many many choices, and D man has emphasized what i was saying. Your comfort with the personality of the stylist and also their training background are the two most important factors.I wish you luck in your search. Thanks, jon.
