Does any one know of a good hairdresser in Kowloon or secondly in Hong Kong who cuts well and is used to western type hair.

Hi, there are quite a few choices in HK side but not so many in kln. There is one guy Joe Ng who works on Hillwood Rd in TST who is pretty good, speaks good english and has worked in some western salons with western clients over the years. I will try and find the name and number of his salon if you are interested.

I am western and for 4 years went to David at Hair Image based in New World Centre in Kowloon. He is Chinese speaks great English and has lots of western clients - cuts and colours, hi-lights etc

Ladies, why do find ourselves here so many times and why do we find stylists promoting themselves so much. If you have to directly promote yourself here you need not be here. We have set parameters for this so many times I am blue in the face. Everyone but it seems one or two people get that and even the owners of this site concur in this matter.

As for who is the best...this is a business of personality and finding the right match on a communication basis is the most important thing you can do. Oncae that is established then worry about their qualifications. Also look at what they are offering you as a client. Are they just cutting your hair for the money or are they taking time to invest in your relationship and in you. Todays hair is not about hair but rather it is about you as a person and about creating, with your guidance and input, an image that suites both your features and your lifestyle...there.

As for my personal commendations, I have been very clear on this and you can research it for yourself. I AM NOT based in HK any longer and there fore can be very honest here these days. Ladies you deserve to be treated like clients again, and a commodity. Not a number and a pay stub. I have made recommendations in the past and now because of integrity and what these people give back...so here you are.

The Hairdressers...Darrin, a great friend and owner puts his shears where his mouth is and I trust him like a brother.

Allure...see Sam, its local and simple but its across from Calf fitness in Central and you will be treated great.

Fudge....CWB..Bevis, great local guy and I would let him cut my hair (those that know me know what that means)....you ca trust him and he consults with myself and my clients via the net if need be.

Face....great salon on Ice house street...the owner speaks okay english but is a great guy...I forget his name as it is 2am here...great enviroment...Jose!!!! thats his name, tell him I said hello

But always consult and always voice your opinion, you know what you feel sexiest in, stay with in that perimeter.,,,cheers

Many many thanks for all your advice it has been tremendous. You have given me heaps to go by. Will try them one by one and stop when I find the right hairdresser for me. Will try Jose first and send him your best regards.

Why are people spamming ?
Can they just not play by the rules ?Why is it so difficult in a place like Hongkong to be able to just follow rules . Or are they just above everything and feel rules are not for them ?
Getting quite irritated with all the spamming going on all over the site ?
Im sure Im not the only one irritated !!!!!!!

For what it is worth I have blond curly hair and go to Lorraine who used to be at the Firm and is now at O2 in central. She is scottish and i always walk out feeling beautiful !!!

Isn't Douglas promoting himself on every forum that mentions haircare...... Pot and Kettle surely. I am not a hairdresser and have no gains to be made fom giving advice.....

Hola....for your informatioin Janetw I am no longer operating in HK....opps.

As for the promotion, if I am in town now and do a seminar or talk I differ to other stylists only. I do consult with clients and the stylist but I take nothing for this service. It seems that once again I stand judged here, no issue. I will say this only, I left HK because of people like this and because those who actually give from heart seem to be seen as weak. When in fact that is a grave misjudgement, it is the people that give that actually get the most out of life. I did not live by this for the first half of my life but I do in the second....thanks to all of you who do support this and support the honesty and integrity of the site.

PS...as for self promotion, I am actually putting a site together (FOR FREE) that will detail stylists and salons in HK in the next 6 months....cheers and I miss you to

BE...if it was me you were referring to I apologize, I was not attempting to belittle anyone . I was attempting to defend myself. If you knew the extent that several people on this site have gone to in the past to bring harm my way you would understand my position. I try to be as non-biased as possible and yet this does not seem to work. I have even left HK and still get this response for some reason. My interest here and in HK is very simple, elevating my profession and the people in it that make a difference. I have NOTHING to gain here I assure you...and if you want to see belittling please look back at some old threads and see what I have had to endure here to bring simple information to people. I am not all knowing, most of the information can be looked up on the net. I do this because most do not really give in depth answers and if you have ever suffered from hair loss, damaged hair or a really horrible style you want facts and fast...Most are very insecure about their hair and all I am trying to do is give them a bit of insight. I will never know why some people have to interfere with that but not actually add anything of value. (that was not directed at you) I am sorry again if I upset anyone, not my nature...cheers.
