how much water to rice do i need to use to make congee in a rice cooker and how long do i need to cook it for? thought this info would be in my rice cookers manual...but no!
i just need the basics - how much rice to water for just plain congee (ie only rice and water). i have tried googleing it but come up with nothing - just about buying rice cookers or really complicated recipies, or cooking congee in a crockpot that took 5 hours.
It is important to know which type of congee you are after because they are cooked differently with different rice to water proportion. For example, Chiu Chow congee is basically cooked rice soaked in water while Cantonese congee has a watery porridge texture.
